Our Story
This all feels like a God set-up. From our early training at Brownsville Revival School of Ministry, to the time we spent in bi-vocational ministry, to the last 6 years of pastoring students, Jesus was preparing us for something. We just didn't know it yet.
The Lord started to stir our hearts for something new a little over a year ago. Something we'd never dreamed of before: church planting!
Starting a church is a big deal. We didn't jump into it lightly. It took a lot of prayer, clear prophetic words, and some serious waiting on Jesus before we made the commitment to this venture.
Just as the Lord had been setting us up to plant a church, He had also been preparing us for a specific place. Using a perfect blend of heart-desires, relationships, and circumstances the Lord focused our attention onto Louisville, KY and specifically a neighborhood called the Highlands.
The prospective launch of Destiny Church is Fall 2011, but building the church begins as soon as we step foot in Louisville.
The Davis family will pack up and head to Louisville the beginning of July. Chris will work a job for support and to build relationship with the community. We have a great little house in the heart of the Highlands that will also enable us to really dig into the neighborhood.
The Lord has connected us with a great church outside of Louisville,
Covenant Community Fellowship. They are a two-year-old church plant, so we plan to hang out with them and learn a lot. While we're partnering with CCF, we'll also be building up a core group in the Highlands... the future Destiny Church.
